The rules, in four steps.
- Each round you both pick at the same time: reload, raise your shield, or fire.
- A shot lands unless the target is shielding. You can only fire with a bullet loaded, and you hold at most five.
- Read your opponent: spend a turn charging when you expect them to shield.
- First player to reach the winning score takes the match.
A standoff decided in one choice
BattleShield is a playground standoff turned into a duel. Each round both players choose at the same moment: load a bullet, raise a shield, or fire.
A shot only lands if the other player is not shielding, and you cannot fire an empty gun. So every round is a guess about what the other side is about to do — and a chance to make them guess wrong.
The three moves
- Reload
- Adds one bullet. You can hold at most five.
- Shield
- Blocks any shot fired at you this round.
- Fire
- Uses one bullet. Scores a hit unless your opponent is shielding. With no bullet loaded, nothing happens.
How to play well
- The moment to reload is when you expect your opponent to shield — they are safe, but so are you.
- Count their bullets. An opponent with none cannot hurt you this round, so shielding is a wasted move.
- An opponent sitting on a full stack of bullets has to fire sooner or later. Shield when the pressure peaks.
- Both players can fire in the same round, and both hits count.
- The first player to five hits takes the match.

How do you win BattleShield?
Land five hits before your opponent does. A hit is a shot fired while the other player is not shielding.
Can I play against the bot?
Yes, there is a bot mode for practice, alongside online matches against real players.
Is it free?
Yes. Every game on Duelto is free to play, with no ads inside the game and nothing to buy.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Duelto runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. A free account, made with an email address, is all you need.
Can children play?
Duelto is open from age 8. Accounts for players under 13 are activated by a parent through the confirmation email, and run with extra restrictions.
